At well over 130, British Columbia has the largest number of animal shelters & rescues per populace than any other province in the country. Only 40 of these are SPCA shelters.
Small autonomous rescues like our Angels Animal Rescue, play an important integral role in the safety and well-being of the animals in their communities, and are even relied upon by SPCA shelters for aid in rescues, animal placement and rehabilitation.
As the percentage of animals euthanized by SPCA shelters is declining, this is due in part because of rescues like ours who accepts animals from the SPCA shelters that they can no longer provide for or rehabilitate. Many of our dog rescues like Goldie or Keeper, would have been euthanized by the SPCA because they didn’t meet their standards of adoption.
Our “No-kill” shelter is the last hope for many of the dogs we rescue. We provide the right environment, time, patience, love and attention that they need to recover from the injuries of their past and to become the loving devoted companions they were meant to be.
Because our rescue does not have the visibility or large infrastructure across the country like the SPCA, it is considerably more difficult to obtain donations or funding. We rely on people like you and the rest of our community to provide your support so that we can keep doing what we do, so please donate what you can. Every little bit helps!
